Participatory Methods

Participatory Methods (Carlo Giupponi)

Goal:

Develop methods and tools (i.e. models, toolboxes, training materials) that contribute to develop more effective interfaces between the various communities involved in global change challenges: researchers, policy/decision makers, interest groups, the general public.

Major finding:

This is a newly established ECF Process, which builds upon long time research efforts carried out by several members of the Forum. Experiences demonstrated that there are still major gaps in effective communication between the various actors of global change science and policies and that those gaps can be solved with the contribution of a new generation of methods and tools: trans-disciplinary integrated models including agent based and system dynamic components, combined with tailored interfaces for participatory policy/decision support.

Funding agents:

Mainly EC funded project within the 6th and 7th Framework Programmes.
